A World of Dials

There are a few distinct truths known in life. The Void is Godless, The Stars are souls who have passed, and Aisorath is a world of true balance. Life and Death, Light and Shadow, The Cosmos and The Wilds - each of these parts of reality is manifested in a nation of the world, commonly known as Dials due to their firm borders and equal division. All work together to compliment their opposite and benefit their adjacent. All Dials are presided over by a God who shepherds their nations and the magics innate to them, keeping them from going awry.

In bardic legend, it is sung that long before the societies stood as they are now, a divine power was brought forth from the stardust that swirled in the chaos of the Void. Her name, spoken with the utmost respect and power even to this day, was Aria. She used her power to create six other Gods, Xel of Life, Imos of Light, Celeste of The Cosmos, Dorian of Death, Senka of Shadow, and Evestra of The Wilds. Their purpose was to grow and protect life in Aisorath. For many hundreds of years they did just that; all was well and life was peaceful.

Then a threat loomed over the Dials. Each God feared the end of everything they had built, until Aria devised a plan. Giving her life, body and spirit, she became a band of lights, The EverWylds, wrapping the Dials in a protective magic to cradle the realm and ensure its safety. Using her power imbued to the land, the Gods were able to defeat the threat, entrapping it in a prison and sending it back deep into Void.

Now the Dials see their versions of peace once more. The Spire of the Accord was built in the center of all the Dials, giving all of the Gods a place to reside and host events for the Dials each year. They range from large feasts to tournaments where citizens gather and show off their talents and trade. While the Dials have their disagreements on the way each operates, their days of war are long over.

Aisorath

Aisorath is a world of true balance.

The Void

Everything that Divine is not; this is where the Void touches. The Void exists between the stars and across the sky, seeping through like an inky sludge. Bards tell tales of Void touching Aisorath long ago, breaking through the protections set by the Gods. A few even warn that it sticks to the world to this day. Some desperate souls say they see things in the Void. Monsters. Atrocities. That merely witnessing them would melt your eyes from their sockets.

No one would ever be crazy enough to believe them.

The Nightmare

A map finds itself in the back of your mind. It’s difficult to place or make out notable landmarks. It’s almost as if you had seen it in a nightmare once and your mind is working hard to forget it exists. Even remembering it now sets off all alarms for fight or flight. But you blink, and - what was it you were trying to remember? It probably wasn't important.
