The Dial Of Life
“Life’s greatest gift is itself.
Residents of the Dial of Life uphold the tenet that all life is a gift that should not be taken for granted. Most residents within the Dial’s borders believe that they have a sacred duty to uphold and promote life by any means necessary, something each person must interpret in their own way. Some may take this concept and study in the art of healing, while others may work to become a Profaned, the knights of the Life Dial and one of the most devout knightly orders in all of Aisorath.
In the very center of the Dial is Lake Tranquility, named after its calm, reflective surface. Built on the island in its center is the capital of the Life Dial, Xel’s Grace - a sprawling castle-city that connects to nearby villages via stone pathways and bridges. Most of the Dial’s population live in the center either in Xel’s Grace or in one of the surrounding villages, but there are those who have chosen to venture out to work with the mining guild of the Mirrorcliff Mountains that surrounds the Dial.
Throughout the Life Dial exist viteums, special houses of healing and centers for the research and practice of mundane and magical healing. Viteums are operated by Soulmenders, those who have dedicated themselves to the study of healing. They rarely compare mundane and magical healing as better or worse than the other, but rather utilize both methods to yield the best results for the sick, injured, and weary.
Thanks to the blessings granted by Xel, the God of Life, the denizens of the Life Dial spend their days relaxed and comfortable. It is commonly thought that the land will always provide what is needed. Most residents never fear for their safety, as many believe that they are unable to die while within the Dial’s borders. Many residents place Xel’s Hourglass, the God of Life’s symbol, throughout their homes and towns, as they believe that they experience increased protection while near symbols of their deity’s power.
