This darkness allows for the citizens of the Dial of Shadow to live more easily, as it makes commonplace activities like sneaking around, slipping into the shadows, and committing general skullduggery that much easier.

A majority of the Dial is left untouched and uninhabited, as most prefer to leave the frightening depths of the forests alone in favor of more controlled ground. Instead, most live in coastal cities built on strong, treated wooden platforms that extend over the sea. These platforms create not just an intricate network of waterways, but a perfect infrastructure to disappear into.

Disappearing, however, isn’t always necessary. Sometimes, all that’s needed is a distraction, something the Dial of Shadow specializes in. The Scarlet Casino is renowned for its entertainment, although many leave its halls with pockets slightly lighter than when they entered. Meanwhile, the Mortis Circus brings performers and creatures from all across the Dials to create breathtaking spectacles. Their daring acts of defiance capture their audiences’ attention so thoroughly, some folks simply never leave.

The people of the Dial of Shadow value family highly and notoriety even more. Each resident uses everything they can to gain more power and repute, often allying with family and faction to bring fame and fortune to them all. Most individuals dream of one day gaining the favor of Senka and becoming the ruler of the Dial, leading some to be willing to risk everything to obtain it.

Regardless of each individual’s strength, there is one rule, passed down from generation to generation - never cross those who have found Senka’s favor, particularly the Dial’s mysterious ruler, or you’ll inevitably become nothing more than an echo in your loved one’s thoughts.
