The Dial Of Light

“Valor in war, honor in peace.

The Light Dial is a dry, arid land, made up mostly of sandy and rocky deserts filled with sparse plant life and reptilian animals. The Dial reflects the warmth and strength that Imos, the God of Light, so highly values. The long days leave little room to hide one’s actions, as far as the residents of the Dial are concerned. Instead, they hide nothing from the light, valuing honor, forwardness, and honesty in all one’s dealings. There are three main provinces that make up the majority of the Dial: Aridel, home of desert trade; Alpest, home of mesas and mines; and Epran, home of rolling fields. At the center of it all is the capital, Goldenlight Keep, a radiant monument to the Light God himself.

Many citizens here have a strong focus on their prowess in combat and military strategy. Even some Light mages are trained by the Mages of the Beacon to become expert magical combatants. This is the result of a Dial warring not with people, but with monsters. The people of the Light Dial live with the ever looming threat that one of the fearsome beasts that call this Dial home will claim them as their next meal. Led by current King Volten, the people of the Light Dial respect valor and honor above all else.

Helping someone in need is said to be the greatest feat you can perform, and none do this better than the Paragons. Anyone willing to protect the realm can become a Paragon, the knights of the Dial and its most elite protectors. They are admired across the Dial for their bravery, selflessness, and dedication to their fellow people.

Those who decide to not follow the path of militia or knighthood are necessary links in the chain to keep people safe. Depending on what resources one’s village might have at its disposal, they might practice crafting weapons and armor, trade with the other Dials, or work to grow crops and produce fabrics to sustain the basic necessities. Some residents of the Dial even become mercenaries, rejecting the structure of traditional knighthood to find valor and honor on their own terms.
