The Dial Of The Wilds

“A tree is only as strong as its roots.

The Dial of the Wilds is a land imbued with the magic of the wilderness. It contains a variety of biomes, ranging from tropics to taigas and everything in between, and each in turn contains just as much variety in their inhabitants. From the smallest mushroom to the tallest tree, the meekest of prey to the most apex predator, each living thing in the Dial has value and purpose, especially the people. Those that live in this Dial teach that to survive and thrive, the only path forward is coexistence with the Wilds. Any attempt to subvert the Wilds’ will is viewed as both futile and an act against the Dial’s Goddess.

While strength and survival skills will keep many alive in the harsh wilderness, the communities that populate the Wilds Dial are what make those living here thrive. In these communities, people live in near-perfect harmony with the land. Those that fail to do so don’t live very long. Each community has its own slight shift in culture depending on what the land provides them and what wildlife they have to work with. Careers like herbalists, hunters, farmers, crafters and traders are all found throughout the Dial, no matter where they come from.

Druids are also found dispersed throughout the Wilds Dial. Druids are individuals who specialize in the use of Wilds magic. This magic allows them to bend the very land to their will and, with enough practice, truly become one with the wildlife. Druids will often travel the Wilds Dial helping people where needed with their unique talents. While druids often work alone, they will convene in the center of the Dial to exchange tips and advice amongst each other.

Amongst the denizens of the Wilds Dial, there is someone who embodies the perfect symbiotic relationship between the people, animals, and the land. That individual is the Archdruid. While there is no official governing system that rules over the entirety of the Wilds Dial, the Wilds’ Goddess chooses the Archdruid to act as a sort of official that all living things obey and respect.
