The Dial Of Death
“Live a life to be proud of in Death.”
Many preconceptions exist about the Death Dial. Rumors float that they are cultists, draped in blacks and lost in conversations with the dead. Some say that their cities are filled with walking, talking corpses, serving as monuments to their unnatural way of life. Other rumors claim that, on certain sections of coast, sailors can hear the screams of damned souls, forever doomed to wander the Dial by the God of Death himself, Dorian. As a result, few have interacted with the majority of the Death Dial’s citizens, keeping most contact to trade in the Dial’s port cities.
The crafts traded in the ports of the Death Dial, however, tell a different story. These crafts are highly valued across Aisorath, as are the works of the Death Bards that travel throughout the Dials. From simple plateware and pottery to the massive ships that trek the ever-changing seas, the craftsmanship of the Death Dial’s artisans has no equal. The citizens are proud of their achievements and live their lives with the purpose of creating works for all to admire.
The Death Dial itself reflects this beauty, in a way. Its western lands are filled with soaring mountains and jagged rocks, while its east is covered in rolling hills and grasslands. While there are many towns scattered around the east, the largest is Atrapas, the capital of the Death Dial. It houses many of the Dial’s dead in beautiful mausoleum-temples with towering spires and stained-glass windows.
The citizens of the Death Dial have unique personalities to match their stories. The current ruler of the Dial is said to be compassionate and attentive. Those involved with trade seem happy and overly conversational, often discussing their newest achievements and goals for the upcoming seasons. Meanwhile, the Undead are highly regarded by the citizens of the Death Dial, who see them as walking works of art. These bodies are imbued with the art that the living person had perfected in their life. The Arbiters oversee all of this, stopping any who might seek to disrespect the dead or otherwise cause undue death.
